UK Immigration
Bringing in talent from abroad allows UK companies to recruit a more diverse workforce, expand their expertise and skill sets, and grow their businesses while benefitting from a versatile international workforce.
UK work visas are open to a large number of industries and business sectors in the UK, from finance and pharmaceuticals, to healthcare and engineering, to name but a few. Businesses are well advised to ensure they have a sponsor licence in place, which will allow them to offer a position to workers from outside the UK as soon as they have found them. Not having a sponsor licence could mean having to have a prospective employee wait for 2-3 months while such a licence is obtained – and potentially losing the individual to a competitor who was quicker off the mark.
Those looking to come to the UK to work are also increasingly expecting employers to support them with the process of obtaining a work visa, both from a financial, as well as organisational, perspective. Employers who have built immigration support into their job offerings are often more successful at securing top talent than those who have not re-evaluated their recruitment process following Brexit and the end of free movement rights for EU nationals.
Going forward, having the correct sponsor licence in place and having a comprehensive immigration support package available will be important factors in securing high-calibre employees for businesses across all industries in the UK.
