STUDYING IN THE UK

STUDYING IN THE UK

The UK is home to some of the world’s most respected schools, universities and colleges, attracting students from across the globe.  If you intend for your children to study in the UK, or plan to study yourself, it is essential to begin the visa process in good time to avoid missing any school or university enrolment deadlines.

OVERVIEW OF STUDY ROUTES

  1. Student Route (Formerly Tier 4) for individuals aged 16 or over who have been offered a place on a qualifying course (including university) operated by a Home Office licensed student sponsor.
  2. Child Student Route for children aged between 4 and 17 who will be studying at an independent licensed school in the UK.
  3. Parent of a Child Student for one parent of a student under the age of 12 to accompany their child to the UK, enabling the child to be a non-boarding pupil in their early years.
  4. Short-term Study Routes for individuals seeking to come to the UK for approved English language courses lasting between 6 and 11 months.
  5. Graduate Route for those students who have successfully completed an eligible course in the UK at bachelor’s degree level or higher and are looking to remain and seek future career opportunities.
  6. High Potential Individual for graduates of certain prestigious international universities who are looking to come to the UK to explore the professional landscape.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS): You must have a valid CAS from a licensed student sponsor outlining the details of your course.
  • Funds: You are required to demonstrate that you can pay your course fees and that you can support yourself financially during your studies, including accommodation and living costs.
  • English Language: Most applicants need to prove their English language proficiency, typically by passing a Secure English Language Test (SELT) or presenting evidence of a recognised qualification.
  • Genuine Intention to Study: You must show a genuine intention to pursue your chosen course and not use the student route for any other purpose, such as disguised work.

RECENT SUCCESSES

  • Assisting a university student in exceptionally obtaining a Student visa from a third country (of which they were not a national or ordinarily resident) due to emergency circumstances.
  • Successfully challenging the refusal of a Short-term Student visa based on an incorrect assessment of the accompanying financial evidence via Administrative Review.
