UK Immigration
Usually, a work visa holder is only permitted to work up to 20 hours per week in a second job, which has to fit into the same government job code as the main job, or can be found on the UK’s shortage occupation list.
If you hold a Health and Care Worker visa, and your second job would also qualify for this visa, you can work as many hours as you like without having to notify the Home Office. You may need to check if you require permission from your sponsor to take on a second job.
You will still need to obtain a second work visa if your additional job is not eligible for a Health and Care Worker visa, cannot be found on the shortage occupation list, or if you want to work more than 20 hours in a job on the shortage occupation list that is not eligible for a Health and Care Worker visa.
From 27 August 2023, Health and Care Worker visa holders will only be able to work up to 20 hour per week in the second job without having to notify the Home Office. The additional job either needs to be within the same occupational code and at the same level as the sponsored role, or be included on the shortage occupation list.
