Who is eligible for the Youth Mobility Scheme?

If you are aged between 18 and 30 years old and are looking to experience life in the UK, the Youth Mobility Scheme may be the visa for you.

The Youth Mobility Scheme allows young people from certain countries to live and work in the UK for up to 2 years.

A limited number of people from Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan can apply for a Youth Mobility Scheme visa are selected by ballot. The ballot is usually opened for 48 hours in January and July each year. There is also a bespoke route for Indian nationals called the India Young Professionals Scheme visa.

Those from Australia, Canada, Monaco, New Zealand, San Marino and Iceland are able to apply without such restrictions. If you are from New Zealand, you are able to apply up to 35 years old.

You will need to show that you have savings of £2,530 as evidence that you have sufficient funds to support yourself until you find work.

The visa is granted for 2 years, and it is not possible to extend.
