Following the Statement of Changes to the Immigration Rules, published by the Home Office on 7 December 2023, some visa categories will be seeing changes in the new year.
The International Sportspersons visa is designed for individuals who are either an elite sportsperson or a qualified coach and are internationally established, looking to develop their sport in the UK at the highest level.
From 31 January 2024, the International Sportspersons visa route will see a change which corrects a previous drafting error of the rules. In particular, International Sportspersons will be able to make an application for entry clearance from any country they are staying in, provided that the application is for 12 months or less and the applicant can demonstrate that they are in that country lawfully and are carrying out activities as a sportsperson.
