Ukraine Family Scheme visa: UPDATES

This blog provides updates to our previous post of 7 March 2022 in respect of the newly created Ukraine Family Scheme visa route.

As of 8 March 2022, the definition of qualifying extended family members has been extended to also include:

• Aunt or uncle
• Niece or nephew
• Cousin
• Mother-in-law or father-in-law
• Grandparent-in-law
• Brother or sister-in-law

As of 11 March 2022, there is now an online application form for applications to be submitted from within the UK.

Further, from 15 March 2022, for those who make an out-of-country application to the Ukraine Family Scheme and where they hold a valid external Ukrainian passport, they will no longer be a required to provide biometrics at an overseas Visa Application Centre as part of the application process.

At present, the requirements of the Ukraine Family Scheme visa route are documented only via a Home Office Policy Guidance and UK government webpage. It is anticipated that an Appendix Ukraine Family Scheme will be added to the UK Immigration Rules in due course, which might further elaborate on the requirements of the route.
