The 2024 India Young Professionals Visa Scheme

The India Young Professionals Visa Scheme allows Indian nationals between the ages of 18 and 30 to live and work in the UK for up to 2 years. The UK Government has released 3,000 places for applicants under this scheme for 2024.

Most places were released in the February ballot (which ran from 20 to 22 February 2024), and the remaining slots will be released later this year in July. You can only submit one entry per person for each ballot, so do keep an eye out when the next ballot is open.

If you were selected in this round, you should receive an invitation to make your visa application within 2 weeks of the ballot closing . This invitation will contain a deadline to apply for the visa, which is usually 30 days after you get the invitation, and you should be prepared to travel to the UK within 6 months of applying. The cost of the visa application is £298.

If you have not been successful in this ballot, there is no way to appeal the decision as individuals are chosen at random; but you should not worry as another round is coming in July!

How to prepare for the next round of ballots in July 2024:

1. Check you are eligible for a visa under this category

In order to qualify for this visa you need to:

• Be an Indian citizen;
• Be aged between 18 and 30;
• Have an eligible qualification at bachelor’s degree level or above (Regulated Qualifications Framework level 6, 7 or 8);
• Have at least £2,530 in savings to support yourself whilst in the UK; and
• Not have any children under the age of 18 who live with you or for whom you are financially responsible.

2. Prepare the following documents ahead of time to submit them as soon as the ballot opens:

• Your full name;
• Your date of birth;
• Your passport details;
• A scan of your passport;
• Your phone number; and
• Your email address.

3. Keep an eye on your Inbox

The results of the ballot are shared within 2 weeks of the closing date, and you will have a short window to submit your application, so do keep a close eye on your inbox to avoid missing an email.
