The United Kingdom has established multiple Youth Mobility Schemes which allow a young person from multiple participating countries to experience life in the United Kingdom and work without sponsorship. In this blog, we explore YMS for Taiwanese nationals.

The UK Home Office has announced that the Youth Mobility Scheme 2024 ballot for Taiwanese nationals will open on 23 July 2024 and close on 25 July 2024.

The ballot is open to Taiwanese nationals between 18-30 years old, at the date of travel, who have savings of at least GBP 2,530. Applicants must not have dependents under the age of 18. Individuals selected by ballot then have 90 days to apply for a visa under the Scheme, pay the visa application fee (including immigration health surcharge) and provide biometrics.

Under the Scheme, successful applicants can live, work and study in the United Kingdom for a period of 24 months.

There were a total of 1,000 places available to Taiwanese nationals in 2024, the majority of which were allocated after the first ballot in January. Entering the ballot is free, however there is a GBP 298 fee to apply for the Scheme. If you are interested in entering the ballot, be ready for the opening of the ballot at 00:01 on 23 July and send an email to TaiwanYMS@homeoffice.gov.uk.

The subject line of your email must include your name, date of birth, and passport number.

The body of your email must include:

  • name
  • date of birth (DD/ MM/ YYYY).
  • passport number
  • mobile phone number

The UK offers great opportunities for your career, depending on your field of expertise. If you are successful in the ballot and gain a visa, this visa route permits you to gain work experience in the UK, giving you exposure to UK employers who may wish to sponsor you as a skilled worker at some point in the future. You may also be able to switch to other visa routes, depending on your specific circumstances

Don’t miss out on this chance to experience life in the UK – mark your diaries!
