In a wave of new sanctions actions, Switzerland has added new individuals and entities to its Moldova, Iran and Myanmar sanctions lists.
On 6 November, Switzerland added 13 individuals and 11 entities to its Iranian sanctions list. Furthermore, the list of prohibited goods and technologies has been amended (SECO press release & Swiss ordinance imposing measures against the Islamic Republic of Iran). On the following day, 7 November, the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER) added 5 individuals and 1 entity to its Moldova sanctions list. The designated individuals are politicians working in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia in the Republic of Moldova (SECO press release & sanctions list) . The Iranian measures came into force on 7 November, and the Moldovan measures – on 8 November 2024.
On 11 November, the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER) added 3 individuals and 1 entity to its Myanmar sanctions list. The designated persons are responsible for human rights violations, online fraud, drugs and human trafficking (SECO press release & sanctions list). These measures came into force on 12 November.
