How does the recently published Statement of Changes in Immigration Rules impact Global Business Mobility visa routes?

General Information

On 18 October 2022, the Home Office published its new Statement of Changes in Immigration Rules. In it, it made some changes to the Service Supplier route under the Global Business Mobility category.

Trade agreements with Australia and New Zealand

Permanent residents of Australia and New Zealand can come to the UK under the Service Supplier route, where the services they provide are covered under the recently signed trade agreements with the UK.

While the trade agreement remains in place, Australian nationals and permanent residents can provide services in the UK for up to 12 months. Applicants living in New Zealand can only work in the UK for up to 6 months using this route.

Validity of agreements

The changes to the rules also clarify that any agreements facilitating migrants coming to the UK under the Service Supplier route must be in force or provisionally applied by both parties to be relied on.

UK Sponsors

The changes also clarify that only A-rated sponsors can certify the financial requirement when they bring migrants to the UK under any of the Global Business Mobility routes.
