My entry clearance vignette has expired. What should I do?

May 15 2023

Entry clearance vignettes are issued for a period of 90 days, to allow those who have been granted a residence visa to enter the UK, where they will then be able to collect their biometric residence permit.

Entry clearance vignettes were previously issued for 30 days, however, this was extended during the pandemic in light of travel restrictions.

There are many reasons why you may be unable to enter the UK before your entry clearance vignette has expired. Fortunately, you do not need to submit an entire new visa application for permission to enter the UK, provided your leave to enter has not expired.

If you are unable to enter the UK within the validity period of your entry clearance vignette, you will need to apply for a replacement vignette to enter the UK.

The application costs £154, and you will need to attend a biometric appointment. A decision should then be made within 3 weeks.
