In this latest article, we explore how it now appears certain that the INTERPOL Silver Notice is here to stay.
As we have previously explained, an INTERPOL Silver Notice is intended to “track the offenders, terrorist financers and others who are using virtual currencies like bitcoin to move and store illicit funds, out of the reach of law enforcement and other authorities”.

The answer is a resounding yes!
It has been reported that Mark McDaid, Criminal Intelligence Officer at INTERPOL, told “European Anti-Financial Crime Summit 2025” that the INTERPOL Silver Notice has been a major success.
Mr McDaid subsequently revealed that “just over 50” Silver Notices have been issued and that the results were “astounding. We’re finding property all over the world”.
As such, we can expect more countries to begin issuing INTERPOL Silver Notices in the hope of recovering laundered assets. In an earlier article, we explored how INTERPOL Silver Notices could assist in this process:
Like most INTERPOL notices, there is a risk that Silver Notices could be unjustly issued. If a Silver Notice is inappropriately issued, it could have significant consequences for an individual’s property and livelihood.
