On 4 November, HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), along with Export Control Joint Unit and Department for Business and Trade, published two notices to exporters – NTE 2023/28 and NTE 2024/29 – issued in August-September 2024 in relation to breaches of UK Russia sanctions and export control violations.
An unidentified exporter paid £58,426.45 in August 2024 for exporting goods in violation of The Russia (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019. The specific nature of the breach has not been disclosed (Notice NTE 2024/29).
Three other settlement offers worth £1.9m were also issued in August and September 2024 relating to unlicenced exports of military goods, dual-use goods and associated activities controlled by the Export Control Order 2008 and Retained Regulation 428/2009 (Notice NTE 2023/28).
