Criminal Justice Crisis: Caroline Black of Gherson LLP Comments on Sir Brian Leveson’s Independent Review of the Criminal Courts
Caroline Black, Consultant at Gherson Solicitors LLP, has been quoted in both the Law Society Gazette and Edward Fennell’s Legal Diary for her commentary on Sir Brian Leveson’s recommendations regarding the reform of the Criminal Courts. These proposals aim to address the challenges facing the criminal justice system as a result of the backlog of cases before the criminal courts and the subsequent delays to justice.
Her comments focus on the most controversial suggestion – that of trials being conducted by lone judges (particularly in complex fraud and corruption cases) as well as key reforms around early guilty pleas and sentencing transparency.
The discussion continues in two leading publications where Caroline’s views on Leveson’s reforms were recently featured:
Law Society Gazette – In depth: Criminal justice in crisis – Leveson’s radical blueprint | Law Gazette
Edward Fennell’s Legal Diary – Edward Fennell’s LEGAL DIARY – The Legal Diary
