BUSINESSES
With more than 35 years’ experience helping businesses with their UK immigration needs, our highly experienced team are adept at providing customised immigration solutions and support to Human Resource departments. Hiring and retaining the best talent for your organisation is key to the success of your business. We aim to make the movement of that talent into the UK as seamless as possible.
We work closely with our clients to understand their requirements, future plans and importantly, help them navigate the complex UK immigration system mitigating any risks imposed by the ever-changing immigration rules.
We take a strategic approach in advising on the best options for employing overseas nationals and the visa routes to meet their needs most efficiently.
We are different: we do not take a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach, we offer a high-touch, bespoke service with the goal of making the process of mobilising your company’s international leadership and staff to the UK as seamless as possible.
For organisations who want to hire non-UK nationals, it is necessary to have a Sponsor Licence in place before you can do so. The application for a Licence should not be taken lightly, as the Home Office is strict on the requirements. If your business is successful in obtaining a Sponsor Licence, staying compliant through the life of the Licence is an onerous task.
Our team works alongside our clients in preparing and submitting Sponsor Licence applications, as well as providing ongoing advice and assistance with complying with sponsorship obligations, including challenging suspensions, revocations and downgrades. Additionally, many companies look to us for support with their Home Office compliance visits.
Our corporate immigration team has extensive experience working with companies across all sectors but has particular expertise working with SMEs in the technology, entertainment and hospitality sectors.
If you are entering the UK market for the first time, or need additional help upskilling your existing Human Resources team already on the ground in the UK, we offer bespoke, in-house training for your team, delivered virtually or on-site; some of the topics include:
- Immigration audits and health checks
- Right-to-work checks
- Mock Sponsor Licence audits
- Record-keeping and file reviews
- Sponsor Licence management
- How to prepare for UKVI audits
- Fulfilling your Sponsor obligations
- Bespoke immigration training and support for HR and visa compliance teams
- Senior management team training
Because no company is the same, we do not take a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to training, and instead discuss your needs with you and create a training programme that’s right for your business.
If you are a ‘visa national’, you will be required to apply for a Visit visa before you travel to the UK. There are approximately 115 countries on the Home Office’s ‘visa national’ list, including Russia, China and India. ‘Non-visa nationals’ are citizens of countries who can seek entry at the border without a prior visa.
Visitors to the UK are permitted to undertake a number of business-related activities, such as attending meetings, conferences, negotiating and signing deals and contracts. Gherson’s experienced immigration team is well-equipped to guide your team members through the preparation of entry paperwork, ensuring a smooth and compliant entry into the UK.
Skilled Worker
A Skilled Worker visa opens the door for non-UK nationals to reside and work in the UK, with the option for their partner and children (under 18) to join them. An individual on a Skilled Worker visa will need to be sponsored by a UK organisation for a permanent role in the UK. The visa is tied to their employment, meaning if they cease to be employed the visa would be lost. After five years of continuous residence in the UK as a Skilled Worker, the individual and their dependant family (if applicable) may qualify for indefinite leave to remain (ILR), paving the way for potential eligibility to apply for British citizenship.
Global Business Mobility
The Global Business Mobility routes allow overseas-based organisations to expand their business operations into the UK. The key routes include:
