International Commercial Arbitration

At Gherson, our multinational and multilingual team of accomplished lawyers harness their vast experience in handling complex (and often politically-sensitive) international arbitration matters governed by various institutional rules as well as ad hoc commercial arbitration decisions.

We work extensively with clients from all parts of the world and conduct arbitration proceedings from settlement negotiations to obtaining and enforcing arbitral awards. Our team consists of lawyers trained in both common law and civil law jurisdictions, who have a good understanding of the specifics of the regions where we conduct arbitrations.

Our arbitration practice is enhanced by our litigation capabilities, including asset recovery, assisting with the enforcement of arbitral awards in the national courts as well as obtaining interim reliefs in support of arbitrations.

Our experience in conducting arbitration proceedings spans across many of the major fora, including the LCIA, ICC, SCC, PCA, the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation (ICAC), China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) and the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (AFSA).

Our notable experience includes:

  • Representing a European bank in an LCIA arbitration in a dispute concerning subordinated loans, seat London;
  • Representing the majority shareholder of a Russian oil refinery in an SCC dispute with minority shareholders, seat Stockholm;
