Alfred has been a core member of the international protection team since he joined in September 2020. He has worked on complex asylum, extradition, sanctions, immigration, civil litigation and INTERPOL matters. Alfred has assisted numerous clients in obtaining refugee status and is managing several politically sensitive asylum applications that engage potential extradition proceedings, INTERPOL requests, civil litigation and criminal/civil proceedings across a number of jurisdictions.

Alfred excels at managing complex cases with multiple fee earners and is particularly adept at assisting high-net-worth clients by offering round-the-clock updates on their matters. In working closely with and learning from partners Roger Gherson and Charles Burnett, Alfred has learnt first-hand how to run complex international protection cases, service clients and manage teams. He has built strong relationships with senior Counsel from top financial crime, litigation and immigration chambers.

Notable experience

• Assisting in successfully removing a politically motivated INTERPOL red notice (the representations ran to 76 pages)
• Assisting in bringing several s23 challenges, challenging sanctions designations. Preparing complex licence applications to the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation that were successful and granted
• Assisting in challenging a refusal to a complex immigration application that is unique both in the appeal and judicial review stage
• Assisting in a cross-border dispute regarding the delivery of several million dollars of oil that is being litigated in the UK High Court
