Additional awards added to the Global Talent “Prestigious Prizes” list

Applicants who hold a qualifying Prestigious Prize may be eligible to apply for a Global Talent visa forthright, without first needing to obtain an endorsement from a relevant UK endorsing body.

As discussed in our recently blog, the UK Government has relaxed the criteria to obtain a Global Talent Visa.

Following further recent changes to the Immigration Rules, the list of Prestigious Prizes has now been expanded to include a total of 74 awards.

The following prizes have been added to the Home Office’s approved list:

Arts and Culture Prizes

An additional 9 prizes have been added as follows:

  • Booker PrizeInternational Booker PrizeInternational Chopin Piano Competition – First PlaceInternational Dublin Literary AwardQueen Elisabeth Competition – Cello/Piano/Violin/Voice – First Place Tchaikovsky Prize – First PlaceVan Cliburn International Piano Competition – Gold Medallist

Film and Television Prizes

An additional 10 prizes have been added as follows:

  • Academy Awards – Best Actor/Actress in a supporting RoleBAFTA – Leading Actor/Actress (Film)BAFTA – Supporting Actor/Actress (Film)

Golden Globes – Best Supporting Actor/Actress Motion Picture

Golden Globes – Best Supporting Actor/Actress Television

Science, Engineering, Humanities and Medicine Prizes

An additional 55 prizes have been added to include:

  • Albert Lasker Basic Medical Research Award
  • Benjamin Franklin Medal
  • Berggruen Prize for Philosophy and Culture
  • Blue Planet Prize
  • Cadman Award
  • Centenary Prize
  • Copley Medal
  • Crafoord Prize
  • Croonian Medal and Lecture
  • Davis Medal
  • Distinguished Fellowship
  • Faraday Medal
  • Fritz J. and Dolores H. Russ Prize
