How to conduct a Right to Work check post COVID-19 – RIGHT TO WORK CHECK UPDATE

It has been confirmed that the flexibility in respect of Right to Work checks, introduced as a result of COVID-19, has been extended until 20 June 2021.

Here we discuss what this means, along with the changes that will come back into force on 21 June 2021 and whether retrospective checks are required.

UNHCR attacks the UK’s new immigration plan

On 24 March 2021, the UK Home Secretary published a new plan for immigration which focused on ‘fairness’. This ‘new plan’ has been condemned by several international human rights watchdogs, including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) which has criticised the UK Government’s proposals.

What is the deadline for EU settlement scheme?

30 June 2021 – this is the deadline for applications to be made under the EU Settlement Scheme. Applicants who submit applications after this date will be required to provide additional evidence in respect of why the application was submitted after the 30 June 2021 deadline.
