Jessica joined Gherson in February 2020, focusing on personal immigration, corporate immigration and nationality law. She holds a first-class honours degree in Law from the University of Liverpool and a diploma in China Studies from Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University.

Jessica specialises in discretionary and complex cases, with particular emphasis on matters involving human rights arguments. Jessica also has a wealth of experience in judicial reviews and appeals to the First-tier Tribunal, the Upper Tribunal and the High Court. Jessica has had notable successes in applications on the Adult Dependent Relative route and discretionary applications for clients with dementia, as well as Section 4 British nationality routes. She is currently a Trustee and Director of the Immigration Law Practitioners Association (ILPA).

  • An application for an Innovator Founder visa in the technology sector and subsequent sponsor licence for the company.
  • An Expansion Worker sponsor licence and visa for a sole trader in the marketing industry and subsequent transition to the Skilled Worker route.
  • An appeal in the First-tier Tribunal leading to the Home Office withdrawing its decision following the service of evidence and a subsequent grant of an Adult Dependent Relative visa.
  • Two linked appeals on Article 8 human rights grounds against Home Office decisions to refuse Leave to Remain applications on the Private Life route.
  • An application for naturalisation involving recent changes to the Good Character Guidance on illegal entry.
  • An application for Leave Outside the Rules on the basis of a dementia diagnosis.
