Elizaveta Rachkova

Elizaveta is a dual-qualified lawyer in England and Wales and Russia. She joined Gherson’s Litigation and Arbitration team in January 2026. Her work focuses on international commercial and investor-state arbitration and various matters of public international law, including sanctions-related cases. Elizaveta holds an LL.M in International Dispute Resolution (MIDS). She has a strong academic interest in public international law and regularly publishes articles on her area of expertise. In 2025, she edited a textbook on international investment law. Elizaveta is an accredited tribunal secretary of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC).

Notable Experience (prior to joining Gherson)
  • Represented a Russian developer of potassium mines in an $18 million commercial arbitration against a Central Asian state in an ICAC (Moscow)-administered arbitration.
  • Represented a Russian client in a $2 million supply dispute in ICC arbitration.
  • Assisted in preparation of expert opinions on various issues of Russian law.
  • Acted as tribunal secretary in an $11 million dispute administered by International Arbitration Centre at Astana International Financial Centre.
  • Prepared a legal opinion for an energy company on the legal consequences of its investments in a disputed territory.
