UK lifts quarantine requirement on EU and US travellers

03 Aug 2021, 10 mins ago

Passengers from amber list countries who have been fully vaccinated in the US or European Union with a vaccine authorised by the EMA or FDA will be exempted from quarantine requirements on arrival in the UK.

Such passengers will still, however, be required to complete a pre-departure test before arrival to England, along with a PCR test on or before day 2 after arrival. Those vaccinated in the US will also need to provide proof of US residency.

Please note that the quarantine exemption will not apply to those arriving from France, as this is currently an amber plus list country.

The updated rules for fully vaccinated passengers is in line with the UK’s efforts to boost the economy and reignite international travel. With the UK’s continuing successful vaccine roll-out, Prime Minister Boris Johnson is confident that the UK can keep up with the easing of certain travel restrictions. It is, accordingly, hoped that vaccinated travellers from countries beyond the EU and US will be allowed entry into the UK without quarantine at a later date.

Please note that UK COVID-19 entry requirements are subject to frequent change, sometimes with minimal notice. The advice continues to remain to always check the latest requirements prior to departure.
