Senior Associate and Manager
We are looking for a solicitor to manage our non- contentious immigration team. This team handles all our private client and business immigration matters for individuals and corporate clients alike. The team comprises about ten fee earners, of different levels of qualification, skill and experience They work hard to meet the high standards Gherson is renowned for and also work well together to achieve the best outcomes for their clients.
Although the manager of this team will be required to undertake their own case work and meet a billing target, by far the focus of this role will be to manage and grow the team. Management of the team will involve overseeing their caseloads, WIPs, billing targets, file reviews, appraisals and training. The manager will be on hand to provide assistance with immigration law and compliance queries, as well as deal with the more complex applications. They will be expected to grow the team, internally and externally. Internally by developing the skills within the team, managing the resource requirements, improving workflow and practice and meeting and increasing billing targets. External development of the team will come about by growing and enhancing client relationships.
As this person will need to be able to provide professional support to the team, some of whom are qualified solicitors, we are looking for someone who, first and foremost is a skilled immigration practitioner with at least five years’ experience in a firm of similar calibre to ours. Some successful experience at managing a team is also essential as it a track record of being able to develop client relationships and bring in business.
