Our internship programmes are designed for university graduates and students in their final or penultimate year of study. As a law firm, we cover a number of legal areas. Our three main practice areas are outlined below, but interns may have an opportunity to experience other areas of our work. Please refer to our website for the full description of the services we provide. Please let us know in your application if you have a particular interest in any specific area and we will try to accommodate, but this cannot be guaranteed.

Founded in 1988 by Roger Gherson, Gherson Solicitors LLP was first established as a boutique immigration law firm based in London. Now servicing clients across all areas of immigration, international protection and human rights, white collar crime, sanctions, and civil litigation and arbitration, Gherson LLP’s offices continue to expand across Europe.

With over 36 years of experience, Gherson’s expertise extends from meeting the migration needs of international businesspeople and UK-based companies to litigation in all UK jurisdictions and the European Court of Human Rights and the European Court of Justice.

International Protection

Our International Protection team is renowned for the exceptional quality of service they offer on complex high-profile cases in a variety of different areas including Sanctions, Political Asylum, Extradition, Interpol and White-Collar Crime, amongst others.

Tasks during an internship with this team may include:

  • Providing administrative support to fee earners (i.e., assisting with preparation of court bundles, filing, formatting internal compliance documents etc.).
  • Assisting with case-related research and drafting case analysis.
  • Collaborating with fee-earners for the preparation of core documents for matters (i.e., media reviews, chronologies, dramatis personae).
  • Assisting with research on court/tribunal related procedures.

 

Dispute Resolution

Our dispute resolution team specialises in high-profile, cross-border litigation and arbitration, including sanction-related civil litigation, investor-state arbitration and international commercial arbitration. The team represents clients throughout a dispute’s life cycle (using a variety of dispute resolution methods), launching or defending proceedings, whether they are court or arbitration based or related to injunctions and enforcement actions.

  • Conducting research on case law, statutes, regulations, and legal precedents relevant to ongoing cases.
  • Assisting with general administrative duties such as bundles for court, managing case files, ensuring that important documents are accessible to team members and tracking case developments.
  • Contributing to articles, blogs, or updates for the firm’s website or newsletters.

 

UK Inbound Immigration

The UK Inbound Immigration team at Gherson is especially well-known for our unparalleled success in securing results on complex, discretionary immigration cases, and those that do not fit squarely inside the rules.

Tasks during an internship with this team may include:

  • Conducting research and drafting articles to be published online in respect of any updates to immigration laws and policies;
  • Providing case management support to fee earners, including drafting visa applications, initial and post-decision advice letters and bundle preparation; and
  • Providing support to fee earners with administrative tasks such as file management and becoming familiar with compliance procedures.

 

Please make sure to select the placement periods that you would like to be considered for (Summer 1 or Summer 2), indicating your order of preference if you have selected more than one period. We will try to accommodate your first preference where we can but please note that this will not always be possible.

Summer 1: 15 June to 24 July 2026 (6 weeks)

Summer 2: 3 August to 11 September 2026 (6 weeks)

Applications will be accepted until 27 February 2026 with interviews taking place in March 2026.
