UK Immigration
Choosing the right work visa is the first step. There are multiple visa options available for US professionals. The most common route is the Skilled Worker Visa. To qualify, you must have a job offer from a UK employer with a sponsor licence, meet the minimum salary requirement, which varies depending on your job and experience, and have a job on the government’s list of eligible occupations. There is also the Global Talent Visa, for individuals recognised as leaders in their field. For this route, you must be endorsed by a designated body in your field of expertise. Another option would be the High Potential Individual Visa, aimed at graduates of top US universities who have a degree from a qualifying university within the past 5 years.
Researching in-depth is the best way to ensure that you identify the right work visa for your specific circumstances. By choosing the right work visa, you are giving yourself the best chance for a successful application.
It is important to familiarise yourself with the specific requirements of your chosen visa. Different visas will have different eligibility criteria. Understanding these criteria, such as minimum income requirements and sponsorship, will enable you to prove that you meet them.
It is vital that you have all the documentation required for your visa application. Ensure that prior to applying, you have the essential documents. This will be dependent on which visa you apply for, but in general it includes documents such as your passport, proof of a job offer, proof of qualifications and financial statements.
Extensive documentation is often required for visa applications. Be prepared to provide substantial amounts of evidence to support your application.
Visa applications can be lengthy and complicated. Taking the time to fully understand the process will make it much easier. Familiarise yourself with the online application form and what it requires from you, the fees that need to be paid and all the actions you must take, including attending your biometric appointment.
