Steps to obtaining a Student visa for courses starting in the 2024/2025 academic year
January 2024 – May 2024
Before applying for a Student visa, ensure you have received and accepted an unconditional offer from a UK university or educational institution. You will need a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from the institution.
February 2024 – May 2024
Demonstrate that you have sufficient funds to cover your tuition fees and living expenses. The exact amount required varies depending on your course and location in the UK. Ensure your financial documents meet the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requirements.
February 2024 – May 2024
Assemble all necessary documentation, including, but not limited to:
June 2024 – July 2024
Apply online for a Student visa through the official UK government website. Pay the application fee and the immigration health surcharge.
June 2024 – July 2024
After submitting your application, book an appointment at a visa application centre to provide your biometric information (fingerprints and photograph).
June 2024 – August 2024
Some applicants may be asked to attend a credibility interview as part of the visa process. Be prepared to answer questions about your course, institution, and reasons for studying in the UK.
July 2024 – August 2024
Processing times can vary, but you will typically receive a decision within three weeks of your biometric appointment. You will be notified via email and will need to collect your visa vignette from a visa application centre.
September 2024
Once you have your visa, you can travel to the UK. Ensure you have your passport, visa, and CAS letter when you arrive in the UK.Collect your biometric residence permit (if applicable).
