INTERPOL RED NOTICE DELETED IN 12 WEEKS

Gherson were contacted by an EU national who is now resident in New Zealand. During an immigration application there it came to light that an INTERPOL Red Notice existed for him that had been issued by the United Arab Emirates. This was the first our client knew of the Red Notice and indeed he had no previous knowledge of the proceedings that led to the Notice being issued. The discovery of the Red Notice placed their immigration status in New Zealand in severe jeopardy.

We were instructed to act on an urgent basis to challenge the Red Notice directly with INTERPOL. We submitted detailed and urgent representations to the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files and also the General Secretariat in November. After first securing a temporary block of the Notice we were able to obtain the full deletion of the Red Notice in a little over twelve weeks.

Sadly, many applications to INTERPOL take a considerably longer period than this to resolve. However, this case demonstrates that in certain cases it is possible to push for a quick decision.

Gherson has considerable experience in dealing with INTERPOL and should anyone wish to discuss an application to INTERPOL in relation to a Red Notice they should not hesitate to contact us.
