Visit visas are usually granted for a period of 6 months, 2 years, 5 years or 10 years. Whilst your visa is valid, there is no specific number of visits you are permitted to make to the UK. It is generally allowed to remain in the UK for a maximum of 180 days per visit.
However, you must be careful to ensure that you are not perceived to be living in the UK through frequent or successive visits. Generally, the more frequently a person enters the UK and the longer they stay, the higher is the likelihood of being questioned at the border about the genuineness of their visit or visits. In a worst case scenario entry to the UK may be refused.
Not all nationals require a visa to enter the UK for tourism purposes. However, anyone entering the UK in the capacity of a visitor – including those not having to apply for visas before travel (so-called non-visa nationals) – are subject to the Immigration Rules which apply to visitors. It is important to be aware of what you are permitted to do while in the UK as a visitor, as breaching the relevant rules can have serious consequences.
