Those applying from within the UK to extend their work visa, or switch to a work visa from another category, have seen longer than normal processing times for their visa applications when submitting under the standard service (rather than priority or super priority).
However, the Home Office has now confirmed that these waiting times have now come back into line with the standard, i.e. 8 weeks.
‘Work visas’ encompass applications for Global Talent, Innovator, Intra-Company, Investor, Scale-up worker, Skilled Worker, and Sportsperson visas.
The time is usually calculated from the date of attendance of a biometric appointment, or, if applicable, from the date of submission of an application via the UKVI IDV application for android/iPhone.
The Home Office has also reduced its processing times for those applying from within the UK under Family visa routes, including partners, parents, or private life routes, from 11 months to a 10-month processing time.
