Gherson Solicitors continues partnership expansion

Leading London-based independent law firm Gherson Solicitors LLP (Gherson) is pleased to announce the promotions of Caroline Black and Alfred Gherson to the partnership.

A recognised leader in business crime and corporate investigations, Caroline Black acts as an advisor to companies and high-net-worth individuals involved in some of the world’s largest and most complex white-collar crime cases. She regularly works with clients facing investigation and prosecution for financial crime, including internal corporate investigations and those conducted by enforcement agencies, such as the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), National Crime Agency, HM Revenue and Customs and the police (as well as their overseas equivalents). Caroline also regularly represents clients in connection with raids and provides strategic counsel on international matters.

Alfred Gherson works across the International Protection and White-Collar Crime teams. His practice covers criminal law, public law and complex immigration. He regularly brings judicial review challenges against government decision-making in asylum and sanctions cases. He also acts on complex, high-profile and politically sensitive asylum claims and the appeals that follow, often where cross-border, white-collar crime and political issues overlap. Within the firm, Alfred plays a leading role in team management, recruitment, and contributes to firm-wide management as Gherson Solicitors continues to grow.

The promotions, which take effect from the 1^st of October 2026, bring the number of partners at the firm to eight. Until Gherson Solicitors restructured to an LLP in 2022, the firm had been headed by Founding Partner Roger Gherson, who launched the firm in 1988 as an immigration practice. The firm today boasts 23 qualified solicitors and has built an enviable reputation in immigration, extradition, commercial litigation, white-collar crime, human rights and sanctions.
