Roger Gherson

Roger Gherson
LLB Hons, FRSA, Principal Solicitor, Recognised Sole Practioner

Roger holds a law degree from University College, London. He established Gherson in 1988 and has over 20 years experience in all aspects of UK immigration and nationality law and related human rights work both within the UK and internationally. Roger leads a significant team of advisors that include solicitors, barristers, immigration consultants, paralegals and translators. His expertise covers the full spectrum of business, investor and employment related immigration as well as personal immigration matters.

Named as an expert in all the leading guides to immigration lawyers, Roger Gherson has a reputation for tenacity, reflected in the firm’s breadth of litigation work, which includes immigration tribunals, judicial review in the High Courts, the Special Immigration Appeals Commission and the European Court of Human Rights. Roger also has in-depth knowledge of human rights and asylum claims (private only), whether in the context of extradition, national security proceedings or otherwise. He is also regularly quoted in the legal and business press on immigration and nationality matters.

 


Lisa Amos

Lisa Amos
Immigration Consultant

Lisa Amos joined Gherson in 1999 and is a specialist in all types of work permit applications and those under the Highly Skilled Migrant programme - latterly for entry or leave to remain under Tiers 1 and 2 of the Points Based System. Before coming to Gherson she worked with the UKCC (now the Nursing and Midwifery Council).

 


Kathryn Bradbury

Kathryn Bradbury
LLB Hons, Solicitor

Kathryn joined the firm in 2001 having worked with the Legal Services Commission. She practices a broad spectrum of UK immigration, EU Free Movement and UK nationality law. She has extensive experience in corporate and personal immigration including applications under the Points Based System, with particular emphasis on Tier 1 Investor and Tier 1 General applications. Her experience in personal immigration includes applications under the Rules relating to civil partnerships, unmarried partners, marriage, and child cases.

Kathryn has also worked on numerous EU free movement cases and in challenges to the extended family member provisions. She has significant expertise in appeals and judicial review cases including recent challenges to the Long Residence Rules and Sole Responsibility provisions in child cases. She is accredited as a Senior Caseworker under the Solicitors Regulation Authority Accreditation Scheme for those giving advice on immigration and trains internally and externally on immigration law. Kathryn also regularly contributes articles on immigration to the press.

 


Elena Rosa Brunet

Elena Rosa Brunet
MA, MPhil, Immigration Consultant

Elena holds a Masters (MPhil) degree from the University of Oxford. Prior to joining Gherson in June 2007, Elena worked in the immigration department of Wilson and Co. Solicitors for nearly 4 years and later for Migration Expert, where she worked as a Level 3 Accredited Caseworker under the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner.

She is also Accredited as a Senior Caseworker under the Solicitors Regulation Authority Accreditation Scheme for those giving advice on asylum and immigration. She has extensive experience of corporate applications under the Tier 1 scheme and also specialises in settlement applications, nationality, student cases and family immigration. Elena also speaks fluent Italian.

 


Joe Levtov

Joe Levtov
MA, Solicitor

Joe holds a degree in English from Queen Mary and Westfield College London and an MA in Slavonic and Eastern European Studies from the School of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies, London University. He undertook his Common Professional Examination and Legal Practice Course with the College of Law in Birmingham and London. Joe joined Gherson in February 2000 and practices primarily in personal immigration law, with particular expertise in human rights cases. Joe is also fluent in Russian.

 


Jackie Penlington

Jackie Penlington
BA (Hons), Solicitor

Jackie holds a BA (Hons) degree in History from the University of Cambridge.  She completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Law and LPC at the College of Law, Guildford, graduating top of her year in 2003. She undertook her training at Penningtons Solicitors and qualified as a solicitor in 2007. Having joined Gherson in January 2008, she now advises on all aspects of private and corporate immigration and nationality matters. Jackie speaks French and basic Italian and Spanish.

 


Rizwana Quazi

Rizwana Quazi
LLB Hons, Solicitor

Rizwana holds a Bachelors degree in Law. She completed the Bar Vocational Course (BVC) and then later undertook the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test (QLTT). She qualified as a solicitor  in April 2006 and is Accredited as a Senior Caseworker under the Solicitors Regulation Authority Accreditation Scheme. She advises on general immigration and managed migration matters, namely entry clearance, settlement, nationality and Tier 1 applications.

 


Lee Jackson

Lee Jackson
LLM, Barrister

Lee holds a law degree from the London School of Economics and a masters degree from University College London. He was called to the Bar in 1995. After qualification, Lee was a Legal Officer at the Refugee Legal Centre. He entered private practice at the Bar in 2000, where he represented applicants at all levels up to the Court of Appeal, before joining Gherson in May 2009. Lee specializes in asylum and human rights work, as well as general immigration.
 
 

Elena Hinchin

Elena Hinchin
LLB Hons, Trainee Solicitor

Elena holds a degree in law from the University of Essex. She joined Gherson Solicitors in 2006, having completed the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law. Elena has experience of complex asylum cases, immigration appeals and ECHR applications. Elena also has overseas legal experience and speaks Russian and Hebrew.
